SFD Subscription for VCDS

SFD (Vehicle Diagnostics Protection) is the Volkswagen Group security standard for newer vehicles - for example Golf 8, the ID. models and other MQB-evo platforms. Many control module functions (diagnostics, coding, adaptations) are locked there unless SFD has been released.

12 months free: Every unlimited VCDS interface (HEX-V2 and HEX-NET) bought from 01.01.2023 includes the first SFD year at no extra cost.

Which route applies to whom?

Situation	Route

Older interface, a different model, or the free year is used up	Get or renew the SFD subscription in our shop - see the product description and options for prices and term.

Requirements

A valid unlimited interface (HEX-V2 or HEX-NET)
Interface registered to you personally (a natural person, no company accounts)
The name in your ID document, in the service account and in the interface registration must be identical
Internet connection on the diagnostic computer while SFD releases are running

How to proceed

Get or renew the SFD subscription
Complete the SFD registration: choose the order, upload your contact details, your ID and the VCDS licence screenshot (photos straight from your phone via QR code are possible), and enter the VCDS serial number.
Set a password in the VCDS configuration program and confirm the link in the confirmation e-mail.
Use SFD in VCDS - the release runs automatically and every access is logged.

After 12 months

Once the 12 months are over, the SFD subscription can be renewed for a fee. Without a valid subscription, SFD-protected functions stay locked; diagnostics and coding outside SFD keep working as usual.
