ISO-V2 USB Isolator – Complete Protection for Your HEX-V2 or HEX-NET
The ISO-V2 is the professional USB isolator for Ross-Tech® diagnostic adapters HEX-V2® and HEX-NET®. This high-performance device provides complete galvanic isolation between vehicle and computer, protecting your valuable diagnostic hardware from dangerous voltage spikes and electrical interference.
Why is the ISO-V2 necessary for your VCDS diagnostics?Every diagnostic interface – including the HEX-V2® – connects two independent circuits: the vehicle circuit (OBD port) and the computer circuit (USB connection). Under certain conditions, dangerous voltage differences can occur between vehicle ground and computer ground, which equalize through your diagnostic interface. The consequences:
- Permanent damage to the HEX-V2® or HEX-NET® processor
- Destruction of protection circuits
- Damage to your computer's USB ports
- No warranty claim for such damage to HEX-NET or HEX-V2!
Hazardous situations that cause damage without ISO-V2:
- When using chargers connected simultaneously to vehicle and computer
- When using external computer power supplies powered by the vehicle electrical system
- When touching metal computer parts (e.g. laptop screws) with vehicle onboard power
How the ISO-V2 USB Isolator works:The ISO-V2 is connected between the computer USB port and HEX-V2®/HEX-NET®. Its innovative technology is based on the ADuM4160 chip with full USB-FULL-SPEED transmission (12 Mbit/s) and galvanic isolation up to 5 kV. Additionally, an isolated DC-DC converter ensures that each side (PC / vehicle) receives its own independent power supply. This completely separates the vehicle circuit from the computer circuit and reliably protects all components.
