What is SFD and why is checking important?
SFD (Schutz der Fahrzeug-Diagnose, "Vehicle Diagnostic Protection") is a security mechanism in modern VAG vehicles (VW, Audi, Seat, Cupra, Škoda) that restricts access to control modules. From model year 2020 onwards, many vehicles on the MQB-evo and MQB37W platforms use SFD or SFD2. Without SFD unlock, coding, adaptations, and certain diagnostic functions are blocked. Our SFD-Checker evaluates the VCID suffixes in the Autoscan and shows you precisely which modules are affected — based on the official Ross-Tech SFD documentation.
